WCET, the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies, announces the successful merger of records from the six institutions involved in the PAR (Predictive Analytics Reporting) Framework Convention on proof of concept project only four months after the project is to start in early June . The goal of the PAR framework is to influence the variables, student retention and progression and to identify determine the effects of various factors on demographic data, and loss of momentum. The data is used to model, to explore, to arise when the records clearly analyzed from various institutions as a single, uniform sample.

The database contains over 640,000 anonymous student data and course level over 3 million records, which are common to 33 variables. The institutions are public / private, and proprietary two-year/four-year and publicly funded institutions.

“We have to use analytics as a tool for improving student retention and development for several years,” said Dr. Phil Ice, Vice President, Research & Development, American Public University System, and principal investigator of the PAR Framework the project. “Unifying may provide records from a number of schools has the potential to be generalized patterns that lead to institutions across the board, regardless of the level set by its internal analytics know-how.” Ice continues: “In the field of higher education, not a predictive analytics project has succeeded in using a multi-institutional sample of this size as a researcher, with a sample size of this number will change everything..”

WCET member institutions in the PAR Framework project involved American Public University System are (apus.edu), Colorado Community College System (cccs.edu), Rio Salado College (riosalado.edu), University of Hawaii system (hawaii . edu), University of Illinois Springfield (uis.edu) and the University of Phoenix (phoenix.edu). Each institution receives IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval. All data were anonymized and encrypted to ensure that no data are personally identifiable.

While dashboards and reporting on critical elements driving adoption of BI in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs), most SMEs are still not all the data they need access to, or have an easy way, it to understand in order to make better business decisions, according to a recent survey by LogiXML, the pioneer of Web-based BI software.

LogiXML asked 605 professionals to small and medium sized companies from various industries about their experiences BI, found Dashboard and Reporting (43 percent), basic operational metrics and KPIs (26 percent) and predictive analytics (30 percent) of Top Business intelligence and analytics are needed. For areas where companies would have supported such a better data visualization, all respondents mentioned sales as one of their top two priorities. Businesses with 1-50 employees indicated sales lead generation company 51-500 + selected financial stocks: The second most important business area by business size differently.

The three major obstacles that prevent small and medium businesses, a better insight and better decision making from their data access to multiple, different data sources (70 percent), the creation of data models and formulas to data (59 analyze percent) and present (visualization) results in an understandable manner (57 percent).

To prepare and analyze intelligence data, a combined 51 percent of respondents said that IT units of the data and is responsible for all or part of the reporting and analysis requirements of businesses. Alternatively stated, 34 percent of that business unit combines the data and creates all the reports and analysis. The availability of IT resources of the company’s size vary, 57 percent of companies with 1 -50 employees cited that they did not have enough IT staff – either with or without the right skills – to support their BI needs. Thirty-one percent of companies with 51 to 500 employees showed that they lack IT resources with the right skills had supported their BI needs. Those with 500 + employees and have divided between not having the right resources and skills – 27 percent versus 26 percent, respectively

Mobile BI remained top-of-mind when implementing rates are lagging behind consciousness appeared.
